It was recently announced that the Global Talent Stream, which is a part of the Global Skills Strategy, is now accessible to employers in Quebec. This program allows some highly skilled foreign nationals who are applying from outside of Canada to be eligible for two-week processing.
The general criteria for this program states that foreign national workers will be able to take advantage of the two-week processing if they submitted their e-application on or after June 12, 2017 and either:
• Are applying from outside Canada as part of the International Mobility Program (IMP), which does not require a LMIA and have an employer-specific job offer in a National Occupational Classification (NOC) code 0 or A position; or
• Have been identified within ESDC’s Global Talent Stream (regardless of NOC code) and are applying from outside Canada.
Employers in Quebec can now take advantage of the Global Talent Stream of the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program to help them hire foreign employees with special skills or to satisfy their need for in-demand talent to fill vacant positions.
