Student Direct Stream

Student Permits Graphic

The Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently introduced the Student Direct Stream. This stream is for students applying for a study permit from China, India, Vietnam, and the Philippines. This program merges with the similar programs that were previously in effect for these countries in order to ensure consistency and faster processing times.

In order to be eligible for the Student Direct Stream, applicants from these 4 countries need to meet further requirements, including more advanced language skills than the ones required under the regular study permit application. Applicants who do not qualify under the Student Direct Stream may still apply for a study permit through the regular study permit application.
